Savvies needs an upgrade!

Well we've been up and running for a couple of years now and it's time for an upgrade. However, in order to do that I'm going to be "shutting down" the News & Views so to speak. I'll still keep the Sales & Events up to date, for a few more weeks anyway, and then the whole site will be down for awhile so we can make some major improvements. Yippee! Thanks for all your posts, comments, etc. throughout the years. We really appreciate it and we look forwarding to seeing you again once the new site is up and running.

It's about this time of the year when the summer sales are winding down that I start to tire of buying summer clothes and I look forward to buying things for fall. Luckily I found this super cute skirt at Old Navy that will be perfect for fall and for now. I'm sporting the skirt for today's pic along with my new button down non-iron shirt from Brooks Brothers, which I love by the way, and a sweater vest. Very school girlish. Very fun.

White dresses are still in like Flynn

Personally I'm not a huge fan of white dresses. Mainly because I had to wear one way too often during my college sorority life. But even still, the all white thing just isn't my favorite look. That said; they are still very much in style and if white is your thing you should definitely have at it. For kicks I picked up a super cute and affordable one from Target the other day and I must admit, with a little self tanner, this look may actually work for me.

One of my favorite things to wear in the summer is cute cotton skirts. They're oh so versatile and perfect for my "dressy casual" lifestyle. They can easily be dressed up for a summer party or down with a tee and flip flops for everyday running. For today's pic I'm sporting a skirt I found at Anthropologie paired with an Old Navy tank. Super comfy and perfect for hot July weather.

I always need a few graphic tees in my lineup for casual days. They're great for jazzing up a pair of solid color shorts or jeans and they're perfect for layering under a sweater or hoodie. J.Crew always has a great selection of them including the one I am wearing today. But you can find these tees everywhere. Express has a great selection right now too. As do places like American Eagle, Target and Old Navy.

Gap's summer sale is going on now

Gap's having a sale and there are a ton of great deals to be had. For today's pic I'm sporting a Gap tee & shorts I just bought for a deal. The shorts are super cute. The tee is awesome. It comes in grey, white and a pale pink color. I bought the white. It's also super lightweight with a great scoopneck, but the kicker is the pretty little rosette detailing. Love it. Plus now it's just $19.99. Sizes & colors are limited online, so check your local Gap store for availability.

I've always been a fan of grey. Probably shouldn't be. It definitely isn't the best color choice for me. However, I still like it and wear it. One of my favorite ways to wear it is with something white. I love a grey tank and white bermuda shorts. I also love a grey tee with a pair of wide leg pants which is what I have on today. It's a causal yet chic, easy breezy summer look.

It seems to be all the rage over at the Gap. J.Crew does it too. So for today's pic I'm following their lead and taking a pair of casual shorts and pairing them with a pretty top. My shorts aren't quite as faded or as slouchy as the Gap styles and they're a bit longer than most of the J.Crew ones, but it is really about taking a trend and making it work with your own personal style. This is exactly what I did.

Seems like everyone is marking down their summer stuff much earlier this year. J.Crew has a ton of summer shorts on sale right now. Ann Taylor LOFT has already marked a bunch of their summer things down + this weekend is their Friends & Family event where you can save 30% on all your purchases. Ann Taylor has it too. American Eagle has a bunch of super cute summer shirts on sale as well. In fact the one I'm wearing today is now just $29.95. How cool is that.

Great deal on a fun date night dress

I've been on the hunt for some date night clothes that have a bit more sex appeal than my standard "cute top and skirt" look and are little more dressed up than my other standard - "fun top and jeans look". I was thrilled to find a dress that totally fits the bill at my local Target store. It's a simple knit dress, but it fits great and it's oh so comfy. The only problem is it's a bit too long, but that's nothing my tailor can't fix.

Dresses are a great option for summer. They're oh so stylish and easy. Throw your favorite dress on, add some great looking shoes and call it a day. Love it. Thankfully dresses are everywhere for summer so you should have no problem finding one in a style or color you like. For today's pic I'm wearing a sleeveless sheath from Ann Taylor LOFT. Very fun.

A pair of white jeans is a must own this summer

If you still haven't picked up a pair of white jeans for summer you'd better. They are a definite must have and with so many different styles to choose from straight leg, wide leg, trouser styles and more there's definitely something for everyone. I got mine at Ann Taylor LOFT. I really debated about whether or not to spend a bunch on a high end pair or get something more affordable. I went the more affordable route. Besides, this way if I don't wear them FOREVER I won't feel bad.

Wanted: a great top to make this skirt really rock!

This is the 2nd super cute skirt I've purchased from J.Crew in the last few weeks that I cannot find the right shirt to wear with. The first was the Rosette print Vicki skirt in orange and the one I'm wearing today is the Slub Lawn pleated skirt in a bright redish/geranium color. Both are in stores only right now and both are super cute. The trouble is I am finding it quite difficult to find something to wear with them. Any ideas?
