Fun tops are a must have for summer

I'm going super casual with today's pic ladies. A really soft tee from Gap, some khakis and my "go to" thongs. Nothing earth shattering that's for sure, but definitely good for days when nothing but comfy casual will do.

I must admit I don't need a ton of real formal business attire. Normally business casual is more my look, if that. However, it is nice to have a few pieces in your closet that can be mixed and matched with pants & skirts to create a look that is a little more work place appropriate. This great fitting button down shirt I found at Express this weekend is perfect for just that. Looks great under a suit jacket, paired with pants or even a skirt. I wearing it today with a more trendy skirt I also found at Express. Ooh la la...

Shorts are still a great option for summer

Shorts have always been the go to bottoms for summer. From shorty shorts to Bermudas there's definitely something for everyone. The trick is finding which length and cut look best on you. In the June 2008 issue of Glamour magazine they offer some great tips on what to look for. According to Glamour, pear shapes should do a straight-cut Bermuda style to lengthen and slim the thighs. For plus sizes, a longer short with no pleats works well. And for smaller women, a shorter short is definitely the way to go. Nothing at or below the knees please.

Madras is popping up everywhere for summer

Either you're a madras fan or you're not. I happen to really like it, so when I found this skirt at AT LOFT I had to have it. The color combination is great. So is the length. Not too short, but too long either. Perfect for casual summer days. I've added a pair of red wedges to dress it up a bit, but it works just as well with a cute pair of sandals or even flip flops. Very fun.

I don't know about you, but I am famous for buying a great pair of shoes and then worrying about what on earth I'll wear with them later. Sure it can make things a bit more difficult, but when the shoes are an oh so fun pair of giraffe print platform wedges from Banana Republic it's worth it. For today's pic I paired the shoes with a sweater I also picked up from Banana Republic and tan a-line skirt I already had in my closet. Very fun and totally work appropriate if business casual dressing is allowed.

This summer I am sooooooo going to do it. I swear. I am going to buy a few more dresses and wear them everywhere. From lunch dates with my friends to Saturday shopping trips to out and about with my girls. Dresses are in and I'm finally getting on board. Of course it helps that I have already found 2 that I really love. One is from Martin + Osa and the one I'm wearing today I found at Anthropologie. Super cute little cotton numbers that can be worn casually as well as for dressier occasions. How cool is that.

Like I've said before, full skirts are big for summer. From prints to bold colors to neutrals and denim you can find them in just about every color, length, and fit imaginable. For today's pic I'm wearing a denim pleated skirt that I bought last year from Martin + Osa. Thankfully they're featuring it again this year. So are a lot of other stores including J.Crew and Garnet Hill. I just love a full skirt for summer. They're stylish, oh so comfy and a great alternative to shorts. Try one on today.

Skirt season is definitely here ladies and I couldn't be happier. Full skirts, pencil skirts, minis and more. So many choices. So little time. And everyone is selling them from Gap to Banana Republic and more, but my favorite so far - J.Crew. I bought their Chevron-stripe trouser mini a few weeks back. Love it. Today I'm sporting the brand new Fiji floral linen mini. Love the linen texture and the bright yellow print. So cute.

Full skirts are popping up everywhere. Gap has them. So does J.Crew. They're very fun and oh so versatile for summer. You can easily dress these babies up or down just by changing your shoes & accessories. Plus they're super comfy with an elastic waist and lightweight cotton material. I found this really swingy style at Banana Republic. And is if that wasn't enough, I also found a really great white tee at Banana as well. How cool is that.

Cropped jeans & fun shoes are an easy everyday option

Because if you're like me, not every day can be about dressing up in skirts and dresses and there are always a few days during the week when jeans and a tee are just the ticket. For spring & summer I like to trade my regular jeans for a pair of super cute, great fitting cropped ones. I add a colorful tee for a pop of color and another "must own" for spring, a fun pair of shoes, to kick the whole look up a notch.

I'm stepping out in a pretty cami and cardigan. How cool is that!

Ok ladies I going a bit more girly today. I'm ditching the basic tees and button down shirts for a fun little cami and cardigan. I always really liked the whole cami/cardigan look. The set Dina wore on the last Savvies Show was adorable. However, I always seem to have a difficult time finding a cami that I really like on ME. Crazy I know. It's still annoyingly cold here in the Midwest, but it is never too early to start thinking about all the fun summer parties & events you'll attend and what you'll wear. This little black dress I found at the Gap might be just the ticket. Not only it is a great fitting, super cute dress it's also a great deal. Just $59.50. Dress is up with heels and jewels for a dressier occasion or pair with some cute flip flops for a more beachy feel. You've definitely got options with this one.
