Lots of bright colors for spring

If you're looking to make a statement this spring do it with color.  Try a cobalt blue dress or a bright yellow top.  Maybe a fun green bracelet or a pair of cherry red shoes.  Color is in like Flynn for spring ladies and I couldn't be more excited.  I mean, can you think of a better way to put yourself in a good mood than by throwing on something the color of sunshine?  Or a fresh picked strawberry?  Not me.

For the best deal on early spring fashions - Wait

The truth is stores are introducing spring merchandise much earlier than every before.  I mean, it's the dead of winter and we've had spring stuff for months.  And I'm not just talking a few select "Resort wear" pieces. The bad news is it's oh so tempting to buy lots of great looking clothes months before you can actually wear them.  The good news is this really early spring stuff will go on sale much earlier too.  So my advice....if it's something you can't live without by all means buy it now.  But if not, wait.  A much better deal is sure to follow.

Wide leg pants are back big time

If you're still not thrilled with the whole skinny jeans comeback, no worries.  Sure the skinny minis are still in for spring, but so are wide leg pants.  Much easier to wear than their skinny counterparts, these babies are definitely the new "it" pant.  Get a pair of wide leg trousers or better yet a pair of wide leg jeans for an oh so fabulous look for spring.

Here's what's on my must have list - a great fitting hoodie

In the January issue of Glamour magazine they talk about the "chic looks for '07."  One of those looks - a hoodie and/or a rocker tee under a fancy sweater or jacket.  While personally I'm not sure about the fancy part I do like the idea of a great fitting hoodie under a jacket. Perfect way to get a ton of mileage out a lighter jacket and look oh so fabulous at the same time.  How cool is that!

How do you feel about stripes?

With more and more early spring stuff hitting the stores, one trend I'm seeing a bunch of is stripes.  Lots of navy & white stripes to go with the whole nautical look that many retailers like to push this time of year, but stripes in lots of other colors as well.  My favorite look for early spring is a striped tee layered under a solid tee, bracelet length jacket or shirt.  Very fun.

Gap adds premium leather bags to their lineup

Move over Louis and Coach.  You too Kate Spade.  There's a new retailer of upscale handbags in town; Gap.  They're joining other big name retail chains including J.Crew and Banana Republic and adding a collection of higher end handbags to their lineup.  Great looking bags in classic yet stylish designs.  Will they sell?  That remains to be seen my friend.

The dress is still big for '07

Here's one of my fashion resolutions for the new year - get myself a new dress.  Maybe even two.  Dresses made a huge comeback last year and they are still big for 2007.  Lots and lots of Diane von Furstenberg looking ditties, great little short numbers, shirtdresses and many more.  All willing and able to take you from work, to dinner out, to a Saturday shopping trip.  Super functional and an oh so easy look.

Amazon launches Endless.com

Apparently the fact that the growth in sales of accessories which includes shoes is much greater than the growth rates for apparel has inspired everyone and their brother to get into the online shoes & accessories market.  Zappos.com, Shoes.com and a few others have been around awhile, but last November Gap added Piperlime.com and now Amazon has launched Endless.com.  How cool is that!

How about a pair of super cute wellies?

Now these babies may not be warm enough for everyone this winter.  They probably won't keep you snugly warm when the temps dip below zero.  But if you're lucky enough to live where it doesn't get that cold or you're just planning ahead for when the temps begin to rise, you might consider getting yourself a pair of super cute wellies.  You can get them in plain colors or with stripes, even with critters on them.  There are a ton of options out there.  But one things for sure, they are a fun and oh so fashionable way to keep your tootsies dry this spring.   (2 comments posted)

Happy New Year!
